Trudging through the forest deep my sights were set high,
admiring the verdant canopy limiting the azure sky,
then a dead twig snapped beneath causing me to stare,
a carpet of leaves bark and fruit strewn around sans flair.
Mottled sunlight on humid ground with countless life that toil,
silent at work unseen unheard feed rich nutrients to soil,
home to creatures small and mighty, that nest play and thrive,
praise nor applause the floor just strives to keep the jungle alive!
