Though Dips first made their appearance on the world stage with hummus making its debut in the Middle East in the 13th century, and Chips joined much later – in 1953 with invention of the potato chips – it was a marriage made in heaven! And ever since, the love story of chips and dips has taken the world by storm. From plain potato to carrot, cassava, corn, banana, kale, parsnip, sweet potato, tapioca, tortilla, the types of chips available now are endless. And can the dips be left far behind then? From plain mayo to aioli, French onion, fondue, garlic butter, guacamole, mustard, nacho cheese, raita, ranch dressing, salsa, sour cream, tartar, tzatziki…phew; with new dips being continuously invented round the world, the list is expanding by the day!
